HOW TO GET TO SAN MIGUEL
When traveling to San Miguel de Allende, the most convenient airports are Querétaro (QRO) and León/Guanajuato (BJX), each about an hour’s drive away. Mexico City (MEX) is another option, roughly 3–4 hours from San Miguel, and and can be a great choice if you’d like to spend some time exploring the city. If flying into MEX, we recommend planning extra time for traffic and trying to arrive outside peak rush hours.
NEW YORK CITY
Best route to QRO: Connect via IAH (Houston); depending on airline, DFW (Dallas–Fort Worth) or ATL (Atlanta) also work.
Nonstop to MEX: Multiple daily nonstop options from EWR and JFK. From MEX, continue by car.
SAN JUAN
Best route to QRO: Connect via IAH, DFW, or ATL based on your preferred carrier.
Nonstop to MEX: Select-day (W,T,F,S) nonstop service is slated to begin in October; check current schedules. From MEX, transfer by car or connect onward.
LOS ANGELES
Best route to BJX: Nonstop service on Volaris from LAX to BJX is the simplest. Volaris flight 7723 departing LAX and Volaris flight 7720 departing BJX.
Alternative to QRO/MEX: If timings are better, connect via DFW or IAH to QRO, or fly nonstop to MEX and transfer.
SAN FRANCISCO
Best route to QRO: Connect via DFW or IAH (carrier preference).
Nonstop to MEX: Five daily nonstop options from SFO.
MIAMI
Best route to QRO: Connect via IAH, ATL, or DFW (choose your airline hub).
Nonstop to MEX: Three daily nonstop options from MIA.
VANCOUVER
Nonstop to MEX: A convenient morning nonstop to MEX most days; from there, drive to SMA.
Return via QRO: Afternoon connections from QRO via IAH are available on Mondays (verify current timings).
